Who We Are
-
The mission of the Autism Foundation of Oklahoma is to improve the lives of Oklahomans with autism and their families across the lifespan.
-
At AFO, we affirm that all autistic lives have value. Now more than ever, it’s essential to come together in support of autistic individuals and their families.
As conversations around autism continue to unfold, we must remain grounded in respect and acceptance. Harmful rhetoric that fuels stigma and doubt has no place in our community. We stand with our national colleagues and call on policymakers to work directly with autistic individuals, families, researchers, clinicians, and organizations like AFO to ensure policy is rooted in science and responsive to the lives we serve.
Serving Oklahomans with autism means honoring the full diversity of the autistic experience. That begins with listening, believing, and standing alongside autistic people—not to fix them, but to champion their right to live authentically and access the support they and their families deserve.
Inclusion: We believe in building communities where every autistic person feels they belong and can thrive.
Respect: We honor the dignity, identity, and autonomy of each individual with autism and the needs of their families and caregivers.
Collaboration: We work closely with families, self-advocates, professionals, and community partners to improve outcomes.
Integrity: We are transparent, responsible, and guided by evidence and empathy.
Innovation: We embrace ongoing learning and adapt to meet the changing needs of autistic Oklahomans

We envision a state where all Oklahomans with autism and their caregivers get the support they need, when they need it, to reach their full potential and thrive.
