Autism Education for Foster Families-Virtual
This 2-hour course, provided by the Autism Foundation of Oklahoma with support from the Sarkeys Foundation, introduces foster parents to the basics of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and how it may affect a child’s communication, behavior, and learning. Participants will learn how autism presents differently in each child and explore simple, practical strategies to support their needs. The training also covers sensory differences and ways to create a more supportive home environment. Attendees will leave with helpful information, including online and local supports and services. This training is designed to build understanding and confidence for foster parents caring for children with autism. This course is approved for 2 hours of in-service training credit for all Oklahoma resource parents.
